Around and about the tunnel: The region
The Albula Tunnel and the Albula Line – both are engineering masterpieces. But the region around the Albula Tunnel could well have been designed by a master craftsman too: Sometimes wild and rough; sometimes soft and gentle – this is the virtuoso play of opposites that Mother Nature stages around here.
With its towering gorges, enchanting pine forests, beautiful valleys and picturesque villages, the region around the Albula Tunnel has plenty to boast about when it comes to impressive landscapes and unspoilt nature.
The southern portal of the tunnel looks out over the valley of Val Bever with its fabulous Alpine backdrop; a paradise for nature lovers and anyone seeking peace and tranquillity. But Val Bever isn’t the only place to cater to such needs, as the entire holiday region of Engadin St. Moritz is just waiting to be visited. As you leave the north portal of the tunnel, you are right in the middle of the Albula Valley. This also has over a century of railway history behind it, and some impressive feats of civil engineering to offer: The holiday region of Bergün Filisur is loved by young and old alike, with the Parc Ela nature park offering a great day out, fine hill walking and many other inviting attractions that are sure to show off the region at its very best.
